Question 1
why do you think people are portrayed this way in the media?
I think that people are made to look like this in the media because people who advertise stuff want it to be attractive so they put attractive looking people on the media to advertise the product. also the makers of the commercial want you to feel like your going to look as good as the person in the video if you use their product. also they makers of the commercial want you to remember the commercial, so if they put someone really attractive in a commercial then the people who watch it might remember it because of the attractive person in it.
Question 2
How are you affected by the images you see?
I personally my self-esteem or the way i feel about myself doesn't become affected by images i see in the media. although the video that was posted on the mary ward blog of that girl putting make up on and looking like a new person made me think of how much time and how much effort that person would have to got through just to look like that again. the images on the mary ward blog also got me thinking that the media is full of lies and fakes because on T.V, internet, and magazines there are pictures very attractive people, but the thing is that those pictures and videos can be edited to make those people look better then the average person. i guess thats also why i personally don't take part of those celebrity fandom stuff because to me they're just normal people, its just that they have something that attracts the public.
Question 3
what can be done to reduce the amount of young men a women that they are negatively affected by these images?
well i think that the only to change anything about media is to put in normal average looking people because people are always going to be negative about something, it just varies from person to person how much they act negatively. also if they put normal looking people in the media it might actually make the media become a source of positivity for people.
Question 4
what would your reaction be to a magazine cover where the subject isn't all glammed up? Is this a possible route that society should take? why or why not?
ok i think my reaction to the none glammed up magazine would be, "wow are these people are just getting lazy now." i honestly think that the flashiness of a magazine cover is what attracts people to read it in the first place. so in other words, i think that they shouldn't change the flashiness of a magazine but they should change the articles inside the magazine. i think im a bit of a bias answer because i don't really read magazines and im not really interested in them in anyway, but i guess thats just me.
Your answers seem to be very honest. Seems like you put in a lot of thought.
